The couple enhancement group is a collaborative program, led by Michael D. Berry, PhD and Sarah Fishman, PhD. This is a six-session workshop series, which fosters the development of tangible skills and strategies, to make stable couple relationships even better! The program uses evidence-based tools and skills training to help couples with a number of goals, including:
- Increasing effective and healthy communication
- Enhancing intimacy (both emotional and physical)
- Planning for life challenges as a team
- Building feelings of connection and support, and
- Cultivating enjoyable and shared experiences.
About the group leaders:
Michael D. Berry, PhD, is a registered clinical psychologist in private practice in Montréal. He specializes in couple counselling and sex therapy, and the mood and anxiety difficulties that often accompany problems in couple relationships. In addition to his private psychology practice, Michael is the Manager of Clinic Operations for the Sex and Couple Therapy Service at the McGill University Health Centre.
Dr. Sarah Frenkiel-Fishman is a registered clinical psychologist who currently works in the ELNA Medical Complex of Decarie Square within the department of Urology. Dr. Fishman received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Concordia University in Montreal. She has trained in the field of Sex & Couple Therapy as well as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) both at McGill University in Canada and at the Center for Anxiety & Traumatic Stress at Hadassah Hospital in Israel.
Dr. Fishman sees individuals and couples experiencing sexual and/or relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, interpersonal difficulties, as well as issues related to self-esteem and wellness in a safe, confidential, and supportive environment.
